Addories Technologies Inc
Addorio Technologies Inc began in 2000 and closed December 31, 2022. While very successful, the story and memory of the company isn’t in its success or longevity. Addorio will always be remembered because of the impact of the founder, Betsy Dommer Davidson. Betsy started the business in 2000. ‘Addorio’ was named for Betsy’s mother’s Italian family. The company grew quickly, and Betsy brought her brother, Tony Dommer, into the company. Addorio’s success was seen in its high client retention rate. Vergennes Township was Addorio’s first municipality. In the late 1990’s, Vergennes was looking for an I.T. person to help coordinate a new server/software program project. Betsy’s mother Denise mentioned that Betsy was planning on starting her own I.T. company to her friend Mari Stone, then clerk at Vergennes. When Vergennes began using her services, Betsy spent a considerable amount of her own time attending meetings and training to learn the municipal world and the software specific to municipalities. Because of this, she gained expertise and earned trust from municipal clients. This is shown in the fact that 40% of Addorio’s business came from municipalities. She joined Rotary in 2004 and served on the board beginning in 2008. Betsy loved working for her community and the global community through Rotary. She joined the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce in 2007 in order to network and discovered her passion for the importance of the chamber’s work. She served as an ambassador, was on the Board of Directors, and chaired the Riverwalk Festival for many years, including the 2007 festival, which celebrated the 175-year anniversary of the Lowell settlement. Many things were incorporated into the festival to share the history of Lowell, another love of Betsy’s. In 2018 she was named the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Person of the Year’. In her personal life Betsy loved her husband Matt, her family and helping others. Besides all her community work as a business owner, she served her community as Betsy Davidson, community member. She was a humble person who would work with you exuding patience and esteem. The results of her work can be seen nearly everywhere in Lowell and the surrounding areas. She worked behind the scenes with the Tri-Rivers Museum Network to design and publish a guide for their annual ‘Spring Into The Past’ weekend. In high school Betsy ran track and cross country. As a high school sophomore, she earned the “Most Dedicated” individual award for running track. She was voted “Most Valuable” in cross country. Her desire was to make trails available to the community so all could enjoy the love of running, walking and recreation. She was one of the original members of a citizens’ group that started meeting in 1999 to create a railway system to connect the city and surrounding townships. She helped create and was a charter member of the Lowell Area Trailway/Recreation Authority as citizen representative for Vergennes township. Her tenacious dedication to the trails was instrumental to the successful creation of the trails currently in existence which start in Vergennes at the Wittenbach/Wege Center and run to the Lowell Township Park South. She personally worked tirelessly to secure easements for the trail and volunteers for trail clean up and work. Betsy volunteered at the Fallasburg Historical Society and the Lowell Area Historical Museum events, Flat River Outreach Ministry, Relay for Life, served as a Lowell Area Community Fund Board Member from 2004-2007, Pink Arrow Pride cancer fundraising and support, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, organizing “MS Day at the Lake” for over 10 years, and others. Betsy loved her community, and her community loved her. Following her death, the Lowell Rotary set up two scholarships in honor of Betsy - ‘The Betsy Davidson Memorial Scholarship (IT/Computer Science)’ and ‘The Betsy Davidson Memorial Scholarship (Trade School)’. In honor of Betsy’s love of trails and her community, the LARA Trailway board had a bench made that will be placed in memory of her. The soon to be completed section of the trail in Lowell from Recreation Park to Foreman will be named “The Betsy Davidson Trail Section”. In addition, the staff and board members of Vergennes Township donated personal funds to have a memorial bench made that is on the Fred Meijer Rail Trail, between Lincoln Lake and 4 Mile Rd. Thank you, Betsy, from your grateful community. |
